Acupuncture
  • How Does Acupuncture Work?
In simplest terms, acupuncture stimulates the body's own healing abilities. Acupuncture needles are perceived by the body as a micro-trauma and the body responds by sending pain relieving endorphins into the bloodstream. Acupuncture regulates the nervous system, endocrine (hormone) system, boosts the immune system and brings them all back into balance.
  • Does Acupuncture Hurt?
No. Acupuncture needles are hair thin and although you may feel a quick prick on insertion, you will likely forget they are there. When Acupuncturists insert needles we want the point to be stimulated for effectiveness, so a tingling sensation may be felt at the acupuncture point or along the channel. This does not hurt though. Most people find acupuncture treatments relaxing and leave feeling rejuvenated.
  • Is Acupuncture Safe?
Yes. Acupuncturists are trained to know what length of needle and at what angle and depth needles are inserted into acupuncture points.
  • Will My Insurance Cover Acupuncture?
Many private insurance companies provide Acupuncture in their benefits packages. Acupuncture can also be claimed for Health Spending Accounts. Direct billing is available for most insurance companies.
